RAMUL & RAKOR

Rauschert's newly developed porous ceramics RAMUL, RAMUL-HT and RAKOR can be used, among other things, as firing auxiliaries and kiln components.

Using diverse raw materials and new procedures, Rauschert was able to lower the mass of these materials as well as their thermal capacities. At the same time, the improved thermo-mechanical properties allow the products to have thinner walls without the loss of mechanical strength. The creep and shock resistance are outstanding. Applying these materials as firing auxiliaries, the energy consumption as well as the CO2 emissions can clearly be reduced.

RAMUL is a aluminum oxide on the basis of the material mullite. Through the application of a new procedure a weight reduction of approximately 30% compared to similar materials is achieved. It is applicable for temperatures of up to 1,600 °C.

Under the name RAMUL-HT we offer a mullite ceramic. Through the use of state-of-the-art materials it possesses excellent thermo-mechanical properties and is therefore suitable for long-term high temperature applications of up to 1,700 °C.

RAKOR is a corundum ceramic developed by Rauschert. Through the use of state-of-the-art materials it possesses excellent thermo-mechanical properties and is therefore suitable for long-term high temperature applications of up to 1,700 °C. RAKOR also doesn’t absorb any lead during sintering piezo or PTC ceramics. Therefore the amount of hazardous waste is depleted and a longer lifetime is guaranteed.

Through the use of various shaping techniques a variety of different geometrical forms can be realized.

Typical shaping techniques are extrusion, dry and wet pressing as well as slip casting. Due to a very low shrinkage of the material a near-net shape production is possible.

The Material Index I was established by the Fraunhofer Institute ISC as a quality criteria of high temperature materials for better comparison of materials with different densities. A lower material index means less energy expenditure with reduced creep tendency at the same time.

Areas of application

As aluminum oxide materials the RAMUL/RAKOR product group particularly qualify as firing auxiliaries in high temperature environments. RAMUL-HT was specifically designed for long-time stability and thermal shock resistance for temperatures up to 1,700 °C. 

Due to its chemical resistance RAKOR is also perfect for the use in aggressive atmosphere.
