European CORE 4.0 project in collaboration with Renault SAS

Rauschert Italia S.r.l. takes part in the development of “High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) Lost-Core (LC) technology for the production of aluminum closed deck blocks for next generation Euro7 engines”, a European project funded in the Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) call of the Horizon 2020 Framework Program of the European Commission.

Together with its partners (Tecnalia, Fagor Ederlan, FerroČrtalič), Rauschert aims to manufacture and commercialize aluminum closed deck blocks for the Renault SAS M9T diesel engine. The blocks allow a reduction of emissions and weight, thus helping to fulfil Euro7 regulations by 2020.

To reach this goal, the HPDC-LC technology (currently at TRL 6) has to be brought to TRL9 and a continuous production capacity of 2.000 blocks has to be guaranteed. Another 12 months of the project are dedicated to provide Renault with 75.000 units by 2019 under an exclusivity agreement. The validation of a business model for the production of up to 1 million blocks within 6 years, creating more than 100 qualified jobs and incomes over 150M€, is also part of the project goals.
