Hot surface igniters & pellet igniters

Rauschert ceramic igniter for efficient, fast and environmentally friendly ignition i.a. of pellets, logs, wood chips and briquettes

Igniting pellets with a clear conscience – for the sake of the environment!

Hot surface igniters for pellet ovens consume only about 1/10 of the energy compared to hot air fans and ignition blowers. Its ignition power is 120 to 300 watts. Depending on the positioning of the ignition element in the furnace, the ignition time is extremely short with approx. 60 seconds. Reduced ignition times also lead to minimal emissions.
Our hot surface igniters are tested up to more than 100,000 cycles and are easy to install at any time thanks to the delivered installation kit. Like all Rauschert products our ignition cartridges are constantly being developed and optimized. We also offer tailor-made ignition solutions on request.

Hot surface igniters & pellet igniters

Pellet igniters – ceramic hot surface igniters for pellet burners

Our ceramic igniters are perfectly suitable for wood pellets, but also for the ignition of wood chips, logs, coal briquettes or other solid fuels (biomass such as corn, etc.) and do not leave you in the cold!

The hot surface igniters are usually offered as a ready-to-install solution that is easy to assemble. The ceramic heater is interchangeably inserted in a temperature-resistant ceramic base and is fixed by clamping springs in the base and electrically contacted.

The ignition takes place via air heating. Due to the special cylindrical geometry the air can flow through and around the heater, on the inside as well as the outside. In combination with an extremely high surface temperature of 1000 ° C, both in continuous and in alternating operation, the supply air is heated to the highest temperatures in the shortest possible time. With this ideal ignition fan very short ignition times are realized, which is associated with minimal emissions.

Due to the manufacturing process, the conducting path is completely embedded in a high-purity alumina ceramic. Thus, the ceramic heater  is completely electrically isolated towards the outside and the inside and the electrical contacts are enclosed by the ceramic socket. The glow starter is thus extremely resistant to oxidation and corrosion, extremely durable and resilient. Depending on the operating conditions, the heater has a lifetime of up to more than 100,000 heating cycles.

Another enormous advantage is the insensitivity of the hot surface igniter to overheating, as it can be caused by a fan failure e.g..

Technical data and dimensions

There are various ready-to-use hot surface igniter solutions for use in a steel pipe with an internal diameter of 18 alternatively 14 mm.

Standard heater – installation set with a length l = 94 mm and diameter d = 18 mm, designed for 230 V or 120 V AC voltage for the North American market with a power of 165W (and 200W).

Long heater – installation set with a length l = 130 mm and diameter d = 18 mm, designed for alternating voltage 230 V with a power of 300W.

Slim heater – installation set with a length l = 94 mm and diameter d = 14 mm, designed for alternating voltage 230 V with a power of 120W (and 130W).

The “installation set” consists of the hot surface igniter, which is interchangeably installed in a high-temperature-resistant socket (contact via clamping springs). The wiring with plug is made according to customer requirements. In addition, we supply a number of designs as a “complete system” in which metal components such as metal pipes, metal nozzles and fastening systems are adapted to the customer-specific installation situation.
